Thanks for posting these Massimo. I've only listened to 314 of your 1094!!!! podcasts. I much appreciate the work & effort you put into them. They're worth their weight in gold!.
The relationship we have with ‘the dead’ seems intuitively more to do with the wants and desires of us the living - we want …. to be remembered or honoured . Of course when I think of my non existent this is ‘logically’ ridiculous and only something of a desire I experience emotionally now in relation those who are living now, or maybe in the future. Maybe it gives meaning to our acts as living beings now ?!
Simon, the Stoics would certainly agree that taking death seriously does give meaning to our life. They would also argue that emotions can be reshaped and redirected through sustained rational thinking. Same notion as modern CBT when practitioners say that part of the goal is to take control of our inner monologue.
