Thanks, the concept of evolution of sex, while confusing seems in most of science what I’d “ known” today warns us to keep looking. As grandfather of transgender now 12, very active singing and lead as jojo in the seusical musical, petite. She has educated many, most of whom have little understanding . Lives in a Red community. Her peers have had no problems understanding who she is
Can't wait for the second part! As you know, I'm not here for Stoicism, but just renewed because this reminded me of the quality of the "Beyond" in your title.
🤯 This is why I didn’t do well at all in biology, but was a master at physics and mathematics. 😬 (I definitely agree with you on “race.” Waiting for the “binary” bit tomorrow if we find it deep inside this artichoke. 😄)
Yup, we’ll talk tomorrow! Again, as I did with Ed above, apologies for the inevitable use of jargon, as well as the length of this two-part post. I wanted to be fair and charitable to the original paper I am criticizing, which is both very technical and pretty long.
Definitely coming back--eagerly--tomorrow. But you've given me much to ponder already, not least that I now have a handy label for my views on race--who knew I'm an eliminativist? Some of your biology is over my head, but this is still good stuff. Thanks!
Ed, happy to help. Right, I’m an eliminativist on race (but not sex) as well. Sorry about the technical jargon, but I’m trying to treat the authors of the original paper fairly, and that paper is both long and complex.
The latest version of the article says 189 neutrons. I think it should be 197 - 79 = 118 neutrons. (I realize that this isn't the point of the article, but I know we are all seeking the truth here in this forum.)

Steven, thanks for your continued support. Rest assured that the “Beyond” component will stay strong and possibly increase moving forward.

Thanks for the clarification!
Just wanted to point out that each gold atom has 79 (not 118) electrons...
Oops, sorry, will correct!
I think the number of neutrons should be 118 (not 79), assuming that we are talking about the sole stable gold isotope, Au-197.
Yup, sorry for the mess! Should be good now. And I very much appreciate the fact checking!

Must have been out of my mind today! I think the current version is correct… 😆
Looks good to me! I'm looking forward to reading the conclusion of your essay.
